The man's a perfectionist
Upon purchasing my new property, it was obvious I needed more functional wardrobes, which needed to be bespoke. Martyn was recommended to me, so we arranged to meet. A detailed quote followed and a further number of visits to measure, re measure check angles etc, - the man's a perfectionist. Lee was sent to beggings the work, again a perfectionist, who was friendly, hard working & always tidied up after himself. It took 2-3 days & i'm delighted with the finished result. Well worth the money.
6 bedrooms refitted
Martyn 4 New Ideas has now fitted a total of 6 bedrooms in two homes for us over recent years. Two of them since March 2023. Each one has been beautifully crafted and expertly fitted. They look fantastic and I would highly recommend to anyone looking to have their bedroom(s) fitted. Nothing was too much trouble for Martyn and his team and the attention to detail was perfect. Built in wardrobes
My wife and I recently had our built in wardrobes and matching bedside tables from Martyn 4 New Ideas and couldn’t be happier. After being provided with quotes from other local companies we decided to order from Martyn due to been given a competitive quote and being impressed with the professionalism and obvious experience Martyn showed when measuring up our room. When it came to the fitting of our wardrobes it would be fair to say I was worried how things would look as our house was built in 1872 so there would be difficulties due to nothing being square, straight or flat but the finish at the end was perfect. None of the problems Lee encountered due to nature of our house fazed him. When finished the two wardrobes looked symmetrical with all components at he same height and angle. Our bedside tables matched the wardrobes and were built especially for us as we wanted them as tall as our previous bedside tables. he wardrobes and bedside tables have made and immeasurable difference to our bedroom and have definitely been worth the investment. - So much so, we are going to have another wardrobe fitted in one of our other bedrooms. We would highly recommend Martyn 4 New ideas if you are planning on having a custom built bedroom.
Amazing job!
What an amazing job done in 2 bedrooms with great workmanship from quoting to after care service. We have used Martyn 8 years previous and the quality is better than anywhere else hence the last 2 bedrooms. With his imagination in quoting stage he has given both rooms so much space and let’s say we now have 2 happy girls!!
Fitted Wardrobes
Used Martyn 4 New Ideas for our son's fitted wardrobes in his bedroom. Martyn came round to measure, show us some examples and quote for the work. Martyn kept us updated on the progress and the work started on the set date. Lee the fitter is very professional, hardworking and friendly. The fitting went smoothly and Lee tidied up afterwards. The wardrobes are of very high quality and we are absolutely thrilled with them. We highly recommend Martyn 4 New Ideas.
Second time
This is the second time we have used Martyn 4 New Ideas and they did not disappoint. They converted a bedroom into a walk in wardrobe and we couldn’t be more pleased with their workmanship. Top quality job with every inch of the room utilised. We will certainly use them again.

It has long been our experience that following recommendations from trusted friends pays dividends in more ways than one. This was certainly true when a friend suggested contacting Martyn 4 New Ideas for replacement fitted bedroom furniture. Shortly after, my wife and I visited the local showroom and workshop and met Martyn who made us very welcome. It quickly became apparent when chatting to Martyn that he is a very hands on person that knew all aspects of this industry inside out, always having time to share his experiences and suggestions whenever appropriate. Shortly after our initial visit Martyn carried out an on site survey offering further useful suggestions which helped finalise our specification and price and confidence to place an order. As arranged, our new bedroom furniture was delivered and installed on time to our complete satisfaction, exceeded our expectations in terms of quality, fit and final appearance. I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you and Lee for transforming our daughters bedroom. From your first visit to when the last screw was put in, you both worked tirelessly to achieve exactly what we wanted; nothing was too much trouble & you gave us ideas on how to further enhance the room, without compromising on our goal which was to maximise the space used. The quality of workmanship is excellent and you both work to very high standards, I would not hesitate to recommend you; indeed my parent’s have been so impressed that you’re now fitting their wardrobes! Decided it was time to modernise my bedroom and Martyn came recommended, as I didn’t want to use the off the shelf outlets as I knew exactly how I wanted it to look, lots of wardrobes with lower hanging rails lots of drawers and shelves and somewhere to put my husbands 40” TV without it being on show. Martyn came listened measured drew a picture of how it would look gave me a price and a date which we were happy with . Work started as planned and felt safe leaving them while we were out as they were happy to work around our shift patterns . We had a few hiccups regarding sizes along the way but this was sorted out to our satisfaction ,we also had to wait for some door and drawer fronts to arrive and knobs and handles as these came from other manufacturers so this did prolong the completion date , but Martyn made some lovely corner shelves to display my collection of perfume bottles and trinket boxes and also fitted me a full length mirror inside the wardrobe door free of charge so this made up for it, overall very pleased with the workmanship style and lovely colour , 5yrs GTEE and I love my Swarski knobs and handles which gives it a bit of glam .
We had been unhappy with our lounge for quite some time, particularly the horrible brick and slate fireplace that highlighted an uneven floor. We looked at various options, but then remembered that Martyn had made a brilliant job of fitting out two of our bedrooms some years ago. It had not occurred that lounges were Martyn’s thing, but he was very keen to come around and have a chat. Martyn spent time with us discussing ideas and options. On the first visit he made a drawing of what the space could look like and gave us an immediate quote. He came twice more to talk about details and check that we were happy. Martyn and Lee are very professional, and the quality of their work is exceptional. The furniture they built is really solid and looks like it will last forever. There is lots of attention to detail, and everything is fitted precisely to the contours of our (very uneven) lounge. The result is absolutely splendid and exactly what we wanted. We now have masses of book shelving and storage space that also hides miles of unsightly cabling. This could never have been achieved with store-bought furniture. We are delighted and cannot recommend them highly enough!

We heard of "New Ideas" by a very strong recommendation from a Contractor who we'd worked with for years in our house. He was very clear that we should definitely go to them for our wardrobes and hand built furniture. We found Martyn and his business to be highly professional, we liked his workshop and showroom to gain ideas and he was always very accommodating. He worked with and helped us choose the units and finishes after a couple of home visits, which were very useful for us. What we particularly liked was not only the carcass's are hand built by Martyn, but he could and did bespoke all of the interior space according to our exact requirements. Also as the work developed they remained very flexible in taking on the ideas or changes we wanted. After a short while from order the furniture was ready to fit. The work was done both quickly and professionally, never any mess left and the customisation of high quality units was really pleasing and exceeded our expectations. The final win for "New Ideas" is the price! Compared to better known and well advertised business (who we'd previously used) there is no comparison on any measure, but in the end the VFM Martyn and Lee deliver is superlative and beyond our dreams. Highly recommended!
We have known Martyn for quite a number of years. In that time he has revolutionised our 2 main bedrooms and 2 en-suites. The first bedroom was completed over 15 years ago, while the second one is brand new. They both look stunning. Martyn was especially helpful in the consulting and planning phases, with lots of original ideas. Martyn works with you to ensure you achieve exactly the effect you are looking for, also pointing out any problems you may have not considered with your own design. Martyn is always prepared to go the extra mile, until you are absolutely satisfied with the final design. But be warned, he drinks an awful lot of tea !!! I would recommend him and his work to everyone.
We were looking for somewhere that could provide tailor made fitted wardrobes but did not know where to start. I found New Ideas on google and realised this was a short distance from our home. My husband and I decided to visit the workshop and showroom to get some ideas. Martyn couldn't have been more welcoming and offered to show us around. Martyn offered a no obligation quote and booked an appointment to measure the rooms we wanted completing. Martyn visited our home to measure up and was very professional during the visit. The drawing and pricing was completed within a day. The wardrobes were fitted while we were at work and I left Martyn and Lee who works for the family business a key with no doubts that they would be completely professional whilst in my home alone. The work has now been fully completed and I have never seen workmanship to this high quality standard before. They created space in my Sons room that I never thought possible. The wardrobes are stunning and we have had many compliments from our family and visitors. I would 100% recommend Martyn and his business for you if you are looking for Quality and professionalism. It was 25 years ago when ‘NEW IDEAS’ first fitted our bedroom furniture. Although it was still in very good condition we decided to update and approached Martyn owner of New Ideas to provide a quote. When we received the quote we found it very favourable compared with other companies that provided fitted bedroom furniture. We also found other companies could only supply standard of the shelf components with no flexibility whereas Martyn could offer a more flexible and suitable furniture also he agreed to remove the old fitted furniture which was included in the price. We found other quotes we received charged for this service. The new bedroom furniture was fitted in early August this year. The fitters Lee and Tom were very amenable and a pleasure to work with and the standard of workmanship was excellent. At every stage they checked with us as to our requirements. They were able to accommodate our personal needs where necessary. We are highly delighted with the finish product and would not hesitate in recommending ‘NEW IDEAS’ for their product, value for money, workmanship and consideration to the customer.
